SYDNEY - 25 November, 2009 - CBS Interactive's leading video games site GameSpot AU and specialist retailer GAME have joined forces in a unique partnership that help to close the gap from review to point of purchase for active consumers looking to buy games both online and offline.
With the Australia games retail sector showing 8.3 per cent growth year-on-year for the in the first nine months of 2009 (GfK Retail and Technology Australia), game sales are set to outstrip last year's record local haul of $2 billion. This, combined with the growing use of online shopping facilities reveals an evolving entertainment consumer - The perfect commercial environment for a venture such as the agreement being entered into by GameSpot AU and GAME.
Starting in November, the agreement will see GameSpot AU featuring prominently in GAME's 110 stores nationwide, with pre-order game cases and store catalogues featuring snapshots and insights from the GameSpot AU team on all the latest titles, in addition to the delivery of in-store TV segments from the team's famed web-video show Crosshairs. The partnership will also extend online with premium partner shopping integration that will allow gamers to check online pricing and provide a link to buy new titles from GAME's online store.
