Australia's favourite friendly tech expert joins Australia's number one technology site CNET Australia
Sydney, 11 August, 2011- CBS Interactive is pleased to announce the appointment of award-winning consumer tech, gaming and entertainment journalist Seamus Byrne to the position of Editor of CNET Australia (www.cnet.com.au). In this new leadership role, Seamus will help to build on the site's already strong reputation as the go-to source for tech advice, reviews and articles in the areas of consumer tech, games and entertainment. Over 3 million tech-savvy browsers visit the site each month (Nielsen Market Intelligence, July 2011), the number one technology website in Australia.

Seamus joins CBS Interactive's CNET Australia most recently from Allure Media, the home of tech and gaming sites including Gizmodo and Kotaku, where he held the role of Publisher. This senior management role saw him directing the editorial team and supporting commercial team efforts for these sites. Prior to this role, Seamus also wrote around consumer tech and gaming news and reviews for leading online and print publications including TimeOut, Sydney Morning Herald, Counterpoint, Hyper and InternetAU.
As CNET Editor, Seamus will also continue his role as Seven Sunrise's resident "tech expert", continuing to give Australian's the latest tips on gadgets, games and the web; now with a CNET flavour!
Seamus will start in his new role as Editor for CNET Australia in late August.
