Joining CNET Australia in 2007 on the back of a full-time freelance stint, Dan Chiappini is the Associate Editor at GameSpot AU. An unapologetic geek since birth, his fascination with videogames and the industry that makes them borders on the unhealthy--and naturally makes him a perfect fit for a job that involves playing games for a living!
Dan has been writing for as long as he can recall - perhaps longer. Beginning in radio as a copy-writer, presenter and producer, he's dabbled in film and television and has spent the last seven years honing his craft by writing about technology and games for some of Australia's largest publishers. Over the years his work has been recognised by his peers, and in addition to a slew of finalist nominations and prizes. In 2008, Dan was voted Best Reviewer at the Sun Microsystems IT Journalism awards.
Although he's spent the last few years up to his elbows in the latest tech, hardware has always been an enabler to play. A keen cross-platform gamer, he's slowly weaning himself off World of Warcraft and is most at home with a mouse, console controller or set of drumsticks in hand.
When he's not belting out lyrics and kicking couches into swimming pools to practice his own Rock Band skills, you'll find Dan checking out the real deal at local gigs, watching films, or down at his local pub hustling some pool.
